How To Build Affiliate Links

Affiliate links come in many different forms – but they are always a link to a Passion web page (home page, product page, category page etc) that a visitor of your site can click and generate revenue for you.

These links can be a simple text link, a image link or a dynamic feed box. The information below details how to create each of these links. If you are unsure of what to do with this link once you have built it then please refer to the How To Insert Affiliate Code Into Your Web Pages page.

The Quickest Way To Build An Affiliate Link

The following steps describe how to quickly create a simple affiliate text link to a product or category.

  1. Sign in to the affiliate program.
  2. Find the product or category you want to link to by using the shops search feature (top right of every page) or by browsing the categories.
  3. Click ‘Build Link To This Category’ or ‘Build Link To This Product’ on the left hand side bar :affiliate-case-study-5

Using The ‘Build A Product / Category Link’ Page

On the affiliate toolbar are options to build category or product link, for example creating a image link to a product. Here you can search for categories / products or enter their unique ID number. For example to build an affiliate link to the ‘Big Daddys Cock Ring’ product:

  1. Sign in to the affiliate program.
  2. Click ‘Build Product Link’ from the affiliate toolbar.
  3. Type ‘Big Daddys Cock Ring’ into the ‘Enter product name’ field and click submit.
  4. Click ‘Build link’ next to the item from the list that appears.
  5. You are now presented with HTML code for a image link and plain text link which can be copied and pasted into your own web page and will display an affiliate link to the ‘Big Daddys Cock Ring’ product page. Creating A Feed Box

A feed box is a box of Passion items which can be included on your site and updates itself automatically, for example with the most recently added items or special offers. You can generate them using the Feed Boxes link on the affiliate toolbar. You can also generate a feed box of top selling items from a category using the Build Category Link described above.

The feed boxes consist of a ‘iframe’ of a given size which is the amount of room it will take up on your web page. For example a feed box for the 3 most recently added items will take up 500 x 220 pixels on your web page.
